Dear colleagues,
Registration for the ERS-ESTS Academy of thoracic oncology [1] is now
open.
Organised by the European Respiratory Society, with expert contributions
from the European Society of Thoracic Surgeons (ESTS), European Society
for Radiotherapy and Oncology (ESTRO) and European Society of Radiology
(ESR), the Academy of thoracic oncology collaborative course unites
thoracic oncology experts to share comprehensive insights across the
lung cancer spectrum, covering everything from screening and rapid
diagnosis to palliative care and complex resuscitation ethics.
Registration for the Academy of thoracic oncology [2], taking place in
Zurich, Switzerland (and online) from 21-23 October, 2026, is already
open. Clinicians with a special interest in thoracic oncology/general
respiratory, thoracic surgeons, medical oncologists, radiation
oncologists, radiologists, palliative care physicians, clinical nurse
specialists and early career members interested in thoracic oncology are
invited to attend to fulfill learning objectives such as:
* Evaluate the current landscape of thoracic oncology diagnostics
across diverse health settings
* Assess emerging technologies to anticipate and integrate future
clinical advancements
* Critically review factors influencing treatment decisions within
multidisciplinary teams
* Design personalised lung cancer treatment strategies to optimise
patient outcomes
* Review standards for palliative care and decision-making around
resuscitation
* Examine approaches to biopsy, biomarker integration and outcome
prediction
Key topics exploring recent advances in diagnostic and therapeutic
approaches and presenting the latest evidence and best practices in lung
cancer screening, staging, diagnosis and treatment will be showcased by
a multidisciplinary and international faculty panel, during three full
days.
Practical workshops, supported by industry partners in the field, will
also allow onsite attendees to examine approaches to biopsy, biomarker
integration and outcome prediction on a close exchange setting.
Find out more about this unique comprehensive perspective on thoracic
oncology which bridges the gap between theory and practice: consult the
course programme [3] and sign up to attend in Zurich to be part of the
hands-on experience!
