Assoc.Prof. Dr. Milica Kontić Jovanović graduated from the Faculty of Medicine,University of Belgrade, in 2002 with an average grade of 9.51. She obtained hermaster’s degree in 2005 in the field of oncogenetics, with the experimentalpart of her research conducted at the Laboratory for Oncogenetics at the“Alberto Sols” Biomedical Research Institute in Madrid, Spain. She earned herPhD in 2011 at the same faculty, with a dissertation titled “PromoterHypermethylation of Tumor Suppressor Genes as a Diagnostic and PrognosticFactor in Lung Cancer.” The experimental work for her doctoral thesis wascarried out at the Lung Cancer Oncogenetics Laboratory at the University ofMinnesota, Minneapolis, USA.
Shepassed the board exam in Internal Medicine in 2012 with distinction andcompleted a subspecialization in Clinical Genetics in 2016. She currently worksat the Clinic for Pulmonology, University Clinical Center of Serbia (UKCS),where she serves as Head of the Department for Targeted and Immunotherapy of LungCancer. Since November 2021, she has also held the position of AssistantProfessor at the Department of Internal Medicine – Pulmonology Unit, at theFaculty of Medicine, University of Belgrade.
Sheis a member of the IASLC Multidisciplinary Clinical Science Committee (MCSC),the European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO), and the European RespiratorySociety (ERS), and she is a lifetime member of the International Union AgainstCancer (UICC) in recognition of her awarded and successfully completed researchproject at the “Alberto Sols” Institute in Madrid.
Dr.Kontić Jovanović is the author of numerous scientific papers in the fields ofpulmonology and oncogenetics, published in prestigious international journals(with a cumulative impact factor exceeding 200), as well as three monographsand several textbook chapters. She is also a peer reviewer for multiplerenowned international journals in genetics and pulmonology.
